During Epidemic / Pandemic Response, isolation facilities (eg. Airborne Infection Isolation (AII) Rooms) are not sufficient or lack in healthcare center, elderly center and hostel, etc. It could not be effective to prevent airborne infection especially respiratory infections. An isolation facility aims to control the airflow in the room so that the number of airborne infectious particles is reduced to a level that ensures cross-infection of other people.
There are different types of isolation room. Class S: Neutral / standard room air pressure. Class P: Positive room air pressure where an immune-compromised patient is protected from airborne transmission of any infection. Class N: Negative room air pressure, where others are protected from any airborne transmission from a patient who may be an infection risk. Class Q: Negative room air pressure with additional barriers for quarantine isolation. Class P, N and Q are including an Anteroom. Anterooms must be provided with self-closing doors and be of sufficient area to allow for the donning / removal of personal protective equipment and hand washing basins.
Due to COVID-19, sufficient isolation facilities including isolation room are very important. The isolation facilities are not just in healthcare. It should be available for elderly center, residential care homes for disabled, day center for elderly, child and disabled and school, etc. HKAPC provides the best solution for design and construct (or modify) isolation room or facility.
