The issue of bacteria, microorganism and mites are occurred in surroundings environment including hotel, office and classroom, etc. These bacteria, microorganism and mites, etc. are harming our health which is important pathogenic causes of the current variety of skin diseases, respiratory diseases.
According to medical research, the allergic culprit is dust mite. The research signified 95% of allergic is caused by mite (95%). The other allergens were in order of cockroach (23%), cat (14%), dog (5%), mold (4%), and pollen (3%). Dust mites particularly suitable for growing in warm, moist, dark place. Hong Kong due to the mild climate (15°C - 30°C), high humidity (relative humidity of 50% -90%), is the most suitable place to breed dust mites. From scientific research shows that ultraviolet light can directly damage the DNA of bacteria, effectively killing the bacteria directly.
Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI)
Natural ultraviolet light or UV is generated by the sun. UV is part of the light spectrum. The full spectrum includes radio waves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, x-rays, gamma rays and cosmic rays. Most sources of light generate some UV. For air, surface and water disinfection, UV is generated by electric lamps that resemble ordinary fluorescent tubes.
There are UVC, UVB and UVA. UVC is shortwave UV, which includes germicidal ultraviolet at 253.7nm wavelength. It is used for air, surface and water disinfection. Unintentional overexposure to UV-C causes skin redness and eye irritation, but does NOT cause skin cancer or cataracts. UV-B is a small and dangerous part of sunlight. Most solar UV-B is absorbed by the diminishing atmospheric ozone layer. Prolonged exposure could result in unhealthy effects on the skin and eyes. UV-A is long wave UV, also known as blacklight, responsible for skin tanning is also used in medicine to treat certain skin disorders.
Germicidal ultraviolet means the wavelength of UV-C in the 253.7 nanometers. The energy of these wavelengths promotes a chemical reaction with DNA. The reaction permanently alters the structure and the molecular bonds of the DNA, which causes it to no longer react properly with the enzymes that initiate cell division or reproduction. It can kill germs, such as bacteria, viruses, mold, fungi and spores that transmit infections, cause allergies, trigger asthma attacks or cause other unhealthy effects. The microorganism cannot colonize, it becomes harmless. Shortly after UV exposure it dies and no offspring and the population of the microorganism diminish rapidly.
